The air duct (6) leads from a forwardly placed unit (15) which extends centrally along the length of the vehicle at floor level. A carpet (1) is shaped to fit over structural projections such as the transmission tunnel (2) and the transverse beam (4).Air conduction channels (7a,7b) are formed at the cross beam region of the carpeted floor for the local distribution of treated air. The channels point in the direction of the footwells (11-14) and air emerges through openings (10a,10b).
