The inner space (4) of the sealing sleeve is fitted to the outer surface (2) of a socket (1), it is tightly coupled to a part region (a) of the outer surface. Pref. the part region is approx. 1/3 of the outer surface.The sealing sleeve is typically of rubber with a fabric inlay and is vulcanised to the outer surface. The inlay is such that is enables and supports the formation of a parallelogram cross-section, on expanding. The sleeve may have an outer and an inner layer, connected in end blocks.
