A radial tyre has a cap tread with a tan delta peak temperature of not less than -30 DEG C. The base tread comprises not less than 30 parts of a carbon black having an iodine adsorption number of 30 to 90mg/g and not less than 10 parts of a short fibre oriented in the axial direction. The sidewall comprises not more than 30 parts of the carbon black and not less than 10 parts by weight of the short fibre oriented in the peripheral direction. The bead apex comprises not less than 65 parts by weight of a carbon black which has an iodine adsorption number of 60 to 100mg/g and not less than 20 parts by weight of the short fibre oriented in the axial direction or a direction which crosses the axial direction. This radial tyre is light and has a low energy loss, and can provide an excellent steering stability.
