Optical transmitters with laser diodes without use of focusing elements.

A transmission system is indicated for the transmission of optical signals via optical waveguides in which single-mode fibres are used as optical waveguides and laser diodes with a light wavelength of no more than 900 nm are used as optical transmitters. The laser diode and single-mode fibre are merely interconnected, without the use of focusing elements, with the aid of a guide which is attached to the laser diode or to a housing which surrounds the latter.
