An electrical switch which may be used as an energy regulator to control the heating current to electrical heating devices such as hot plates, comprises a body (12), a cam (16) which is rotatable about a cam axis (52) extending in the front-to-roar direction of the body, and a cam follower arm (34) which extends from the cam in the front-to-rear direction. The cam follower arm is fast with a bimetal element (36) which has a heating element (40) thereon. The assembly of arm (34) and bimetal element (36) is pivotally displaceable about a pivot axis (22) rearwardly of the cam (16) whereby the cam follower arm (34) can control operation of a pair of switch contacts (24.1, 24.2) according to the rotational position of the cam (16).
