The present invention relates to an elastic ring with strain indicator for a leaktight union (1) of the type including two components (2, 4) joined by a coupling sleeve (6) exhibiting an internal shoulder (8) intended to retain the first component (2) and tightened by screwing onto an external screw thread (10) of the other component (4). The elastic ring is interposed between the shoulder (8) and the first component (2) and it is fitted at least with one tab (16) which extends between the coupling sleeve (6) and the first component (2), and the end (20) of which is visible on the end face (12) after the coupling sleeve (6) has been tightened. <IMAGE>
