The grinding disc has a rubber cylindrical body (2) with a replaceable abrasive band (4) on the outside. The central shaft (3) has a taper spigot (5) that enters an undersize bore (6) of the body and along with the pressure exerted by end washers (8,11), on the shaft (3), expands the body to grip the abrasive band when the axial clamping screw (9) is tightened.To produce the body, a rubber workpiece in the form of a thick-walled tube is mounted on a taper mandrel corresponding in form to the shaft taper spigot (5) and machined to produce a finished cylindrical outer surface.
