PURPOSE:To prepare the subject medium containing nutritive sources, mannite, phenylethylalcohol, 4-methylumbelliferyl phosphoric acid, oxacillin, and phenyl red, and enabling to discover opportunistic infection, etc., at an early stage, the infection being caused by MRSA. CONSTITUTION:This medium contains (A) nutritive sources, (B) mannite, (C) phenylethylalcohol, (D) 4-methylumbelliferyl phosphoric acid, (E) oxacillin, and (F) phenyl red. A yellow colony and an apparent fluorescence are observed only on MRSA on the basis of its positive mannite decomposability and positive phophatase activity. |
