PURPOSE: To provide an antitumor chromophore having higher antitumor activity obtd. from kedarcidin antibiotic. CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of kedarcidin is extracted with ethylacetate, and the extract is subjected to silica gel column chromatograph which uses benzene. methanol process gradient eluting liquid to collect a fraction including the kedarcidin chromophore. The obtd. kedarcidin chromophore C53 H60 N3 O16 Cl is a dull yellow amorphous solid and has IR absorption spectrum in the figure. The chromophore shows 0.29 Rf value (benzene.methanol 9:2 v/v) and 0.16 Rf value (benzene.methanol 9:1 v/v) by silica gel thin layer chromatography and shows 12 minutes high performance liquid chromatograph retention time in a C18 reverse phase silica gel column with tetrahydrofuran-0.2 M ammonium acetate solvent. |
