Thread, More Particularly Sewing Thread, as well as a Method and Apparatus Suitable for Producing such Thread. Threads comprising one or more main filaments bonded together by a melt bonding filament admit with difficulty the formation of sufficiently solid bonding and the maintenance of essential thread properties. The production of such conventional threads furthermore requires heavy twisting. The invention, developed to remedy these deficiencies, provides the main strands formed of a multifilament filament strand comingle with one or more bonding filament strands to cause the occurence of loops and bends which, when diffused through the strand cross section, promote a very effective bond while other normal thread properties are retained.
