PURPOSE:To provide the layout page data processor capable of correctly laying out pages by easily dealing with page insertion and automatically processing double-spread pages. CONSTITUTION:A page progression management means 23 successively assigns page numbers and controls a job data forming means 24 to execute the following processing for respective pages: First, the means reads in the page data to be laid out on the assigned pages and instructs a double-spread attribute deciding means 26 to make decision as to whether the ordinary page data or the double-spread page data. The means also instructs a right and left attribute deciding means 27 to make decision as to whether the assigned page is the page on the left side of the double-spread page or the page on the right side thereof. If the page data is the double-spread page data, the corresponding parts of the page data are respectively laid out on the page of the assigned page number and the other page of the double-spread to be paired therewith. If the page data already exists in the other page at this time, the page data of the page and the subsequent pages are successively moved backward by a page data moving means 28.
