The structure consists of a number of linear guide modules (3-6) of extruded aluminium, forming the corner supports of the structure and whose inner cavities contain and guide movable carriages. Each carriage has a projecting support (7) for moving a manipulator arm (2) or other component.The moving arm projects outside the structure, and the modules have T-section grooves to receive an outer guard casing with a frontal aperture for the arm to pass through. The two modules at the rear of the structure are weighted to counterbalance the weight of the arm, and the movement of the carriages can be controlled by motors (10) which are also housed inside the support modules.
