The appts. consists of a guide rod (3) with a curved hook (4) on its distal end, and a regulator for the distance between the hook and the tip of a drill (15) pre-positioned to make a trans-femoral channel. The rod has a stop formed by a bend part-way along its length to engage with the top of the inter-condyle groove. The rod's proximal end can be moved in a coupling (11) which can slide in a supporting handle (1) and be adjusted by a millimetre gauge which allows the distance from the handle to the hook to be visualised.The drill is connected to a supporting arm (9) which is fixed perpendicular to the plane of the handle and has a sight for guiding the angle and position of the drill tip.
