The cassette is made with a strip of material (3) attached to its central spindle and passing through its inlet slit (6), having a fixing (7) on its free end for attaching to the end of a film (8). The fixing holds the end of the film with a force which is lower than the effort applied to the strip when the film is wound out of the cassette. It can be in the form of a slit in the edge of the strip, a metal or plastics clamp, a layer of adhesive with a reduced level of adhesion, or two magnets. For cine film, the connecting strip for the film can pass out of the cassette through a drum containing a roller.
