<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the coder coding efficiently data of 2-dimension arrangement having consecutive same signals and levels by applying zigzag scanning to transformation coefficients after orthogonal transformation. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed quantity of 2-dimension arrangement data are stored in a temporary storage device 60, the probability distribution of all events being combinations of same signals and levels is checked and according to the probability distribution, a relevant symbol is given to an event of combination appearing frequently for coding and a 2-dimension multi-value processing arithmetic decoder 41 is used to apply coding to an event of the combination of less frequency so that a specific code and fixed length of data are close to the entropy to the utmost.</p> |
