摘要 PURPOSE:To transmit the natural stereoscopic image of an interacting person by permitting two right and left telecameras to image-pickup the interacting person and executing ununiform sampling so that respective pieces of data become dense at the center of the visual field and coarse around periphery. CONSTITUTION:In a transmission-side video telephone device 10, a subject is photographed by the telecameras for right eye and left eye 12 and 13. An image is sampled densely around the center of the visual field and coarsely around the periphery in uniform sampling parts 16 and 17. Sampled images 41 and 42 are outputted to a visual line arithmetic part 18 and an encoding part 19. When the subject moves, the arithmetic part 18 detects the moved amount, calculates the visual line adjustment amount of the cameras 12 and 13. Electric racks 14 and 15 move the visual lines of the cameras 12 and 13 in accordance with the calculated value. The images 41 and 42 and a visual line signal 56 are subjected to redundancy compression processing in an encoding part 19, and all singles are transmitted to a transmission line 20 as one channel video signals. The decoding part of a reception side telephone system 30 receives the video signal, resolves it into the sampled images 41 and 42 and the visual line signal 56 and decode them. Restoration parts 32 and 33 restore them, synthesize them in a synthesis part 34 and display 35 them.
