PURPOSE: To decide the viscosity of liquid from data by Hagen-Poiseuille law by detecting the time change of liquid flow rate via a viscometer. CONSTITUTION: A capillary tube 1 is coupled by a thread-crimp coupling part 2 to be filled in a storage container 3. The inlet 7 of the tube 1 is flared in a conical shape, the outlet 6 is similarly flared, and ended in a flared opening 5 with a bevel in the lateral direction. The opening 5 is stopped to form a liquid droplet to the minimum together with a drawing end 4 to form the droplet out of the region of the tube 1 to prevent the adverse influence to the measured result. The decision of the flow rate of the liquid is filled with sample liquid, and conducted by the reduction in the mass of a viscometer 20 suspended from a weighing unit. The correlation between the liquid flow rate in the tube 1 and time is represented by dV/dt=πr<4> (P1 -P0 )/8ηL by HagenPoiseuille law, where dV/dt is the liquid volume per unit time passing the tube, theγis radius of the tube, P1 - P0 is pressure difference between both the ends of the tube,ηis liquid viscosity, and L is tube length. Thus, theηis calculated by a computer.
