PURPOSE:To provide the grinding method of the outer peripheral part of a plastic fiber for removing the outer peripheral part only by desired thickness so as it does not contribute to optical transmission without causing the problem of the degradation in the optical fiber itself. CONSTITUTION:The plastic fiber is immersed in a first solvent capable of dissolving or swelling the fiber in a prescribed time to swell the outer peripheral part of the fiber, then the plastic fiber passes through the hole of an elastic member having the hole of sufficiently small inside diameter compared with an outside diameter to remove the outer periphery part of the swelled plastic fiber, moreover, the fiber passes through a second solvent which is hardly dissolve the plastic fiber and easily dissolve the first solvent. |
