PURPOSE:To suppress generation of a false outline or texture at the time of binarizing enlargement and reduction-processed picture data again. CONSTITUTION:A converted picture element according to a picture size conversion magnification is projected on an original dither picture, and the data of a picture element group to be converted positioned in the neighborhood of each converted picture element are inputted by a picture element to be converted inputting means 1. Then, a picture element to be converted density calculating means 2 calculates the density of each picture element to be converted from the data of the picture element group to be converted based on the gradation communicated from a gradation calculating means 3, and a converted picture element density calculating means 4 calculates the density of each converted picture element based on the density of each picture element to be converted. A binarization system deciding means 6 designates a constant threshold value system when the size of a dither matrix communicated from the gradation calculating means 3 is less than 4X4, designates the dither matrix of the communicated size when it is more than 4X4 and less than 8X8, and designates a 8X8 dither matrix when it is more than 8X8. A binarizing means 5 binarizes the converted picture element density calculated by the converted picture element density calculating means 4 according to the designation. |
