<p>PURPOSE: To insert a cartridge in a longitudinal direction by making a housing in a open dimension capable of longitudinally inserting the rectangular cartridge with an access door at its side edge part and laterally moving the cartridge inside. CONSTITUTION: The cartridge is grasped between a locating block 112 provided at a sliding carriage 70 and a retracting type locating block 122. Then when the carriage 70 moves, the cartridge moves on a supporting tray 58. While the cartridge is in a driving device, a door opening mechanism keeps opening the access door of the cartridge. The carriage 70 moves backward first and then moves in a lateral direction. Its passage is regulated by supporters 72 and 98 mutually operating with slots 74 and 96. The lateral moving is continued to a position where a magnetic head is engaged with a magnetic tape exposed by the opened access door.</p> |
