PURPOSE: To provide an automatic vehicle or robot to be mounted on a guide vehicle which must turn about especially in an inaccessible or dangerous environment. CONSTITUTION: The system for detecting the environment and locating and/or guiding a mobile on the ground comprises means for generating and transmitting a signal to be reflected on a fixed obstacle, and means for receiving and processing a signal reflected on the fixed obstacle wherein the environment is recognized and/or an automatic mobile is guided the receiving means.
