The bars (9,10) are stowed longitudinally between the feet (4,7 and 5,6) which are mounted on the roof (2) of the vehicle, and support the fixed longitudinal bars (17,18). The bars (9,10) are hinged at one end to the feet (5,7) to stow beside under the fixed bars, being secured by spring-loaded plungers and sockets.In use, the transverse bars are swung across the roof to engage in the appropriate sockets. The bars may have telescopic adjustment of their lengths.
