The local control unit (2) responds to input data provided via a push-button input unit within each room for control of the associated terminal appts. The input unit has function keys which can be operated to allow pre-selection of different function planes for the keyboard and the controlled terminal appts.Pref., the control unit interrogates the input units in accordance with a given protocol to provide control commands corresponding to the actual configuration selected via the function keys of the individual input devices, the configuration data being transmitted via a HF cable.
