To extract water from satd. waste material such as from slaughterhouses, fruit presses or breweries, where the waste has a dry content of 8-25%, the material is constantly stirred in homogenisation or stirring unit to keep it in a continuous consistency suitable for pumping. The material is pumped to a separator with a sieve, to give a mechanical sepn. between the solid and liquid components.Also claimed is an assembly where the suction side of a feed pump opens into the homogenising and stirring unit, to deliver the material to a sepn. unit, where the sepd. solid and liquid matter are led away.Part of sepd. water, at the sepn. unit, is returned to homogenising and stirring unit, to give material an optimum consistency. A stirrer is used to homogenise and stir the material for separation. A screw sieve press is used to separate the solid and liquid matter. The waste is cattle rumen contents.An overflow channel from the separator unit leads back to the homogenising and stirring unit. The extracted water is fed to a pump which passes the water to a sewage plant and also back to the homogenising/stirring unit as required.
