The tool (1) has a motor in a housing for driving a drive shaft for the tool and a torque measurement device whose signals are evaluated by a measurement and control unit (4). The measurement and control unit switches off the screwdriver when a defined torque has been achieved which is sufficient to secure a bolt.In addition to the measurement of the torque, the pulses or rotation angles of the screwdriver are counted. The number of pulses or rotations counted up to the end of the tightening process are used to determine the quality of the screw connection.
