A method for producing heat-stable microporous laminar silica with a high specific surface area. According to the method, (a) a phyllosilicate, particularly talcum, is mixed with an alkaline carbonate; (b) the mixture is heated to a temperature of 500-1400 °C; (c) the cooled reaction products are subjected to an acid attack; and (d) the resulting solid silica is separated. This silica has a stable macroscopic and microcospic structure up to least 600 °C and a specific surface area over 450 m2/g.
|
