Solid electrolytic capacitor prodn. with polymeric electrolyte

In the prodn. of a solid electrolytic capacitor, (a) a formed, porous metallic anode (I) is impregnated with a liquid monomer (II) contg. a sulphonate (III) with at least 6 C atoms or a soln. contg. over 45 vol.% (II) and (III); (b) (II) is polymerised chemically with an oxidant (IV); and (c) the polymer (V) is provided with a contact.(I) is pref. a metal foil or sintered metal and pref. consists of a valve metal, esp. Al or Ta; and (II) is pref pyrrole, thiophene or aniline or a deriv. of these, esp. ethylene-3,4-dioxythiophene (IIA); (III) an alkali or ammonium naphthalenesulphonate; and (IV) a Fe(III) salt or peroxodisulphate.
