BATTERY TRANSFER TECHNIQUE FOR VEHICLE

A pack of batteries (40) is transferred between a battery powered vehicle (20) and a transport cart (80), in order to replace the battery pack with a freshly charged pack, using a tray (44) which supports the battery pack. A locking mechanism (74) attaches the tray in place on the cart until the transfer occurs, and then attaches the tray (44) in place on the vehicle (20). An attachment mechanism (148) engages the cart (80) to the vehicle (20) during the transfer.
