Advanced control room complex for a nuclear power plant contains three individual data machine systems, i.e., DIAS 72 for messages and alarm, DPS 70 for general monitoring, and PPS 50 for protection, wherein a representative value of a parameter common to all systems can be defined both in DIAS 72 and DPS 70, partially based on the value in PPS 50, and is displayed to an operator via DPS. The content of and the hierarchical access to the three levels of the screen pages containing information for critical function monitoring and succession process monitoring are explained, as is the use of the alarm indication on the survey screen IPSO for running diagnoses of warnings from the critical functions or for an unattainable succession process, and furthermore an alarm-based management for the definitive diagnoses. <IMAGE>
