The interior of the storage chamber (6), which is sealed off from the outside, is connected to the working chamber (5) in the cylinder (1) via a non-return valve (8). The latter opens when working-chamber pressure is equal to or greater than that in the storage chamber. An injection drilling (10) connecting the chambers is of cross-section such that when working-chamber pressure drops as the result of the working stroke of the piston (2) a high-speed gas jet is injected into the working chamber.The storage chamber can be annular and concentric to the cylinder axis at the inlet valve (15). It is connected to the working chamber by ports (9) in a ring around the inlet valve seat, and covered by the non-return valve plate inside the storage chamber. The injection bore forms a small nozzle passing through the valve plate.
