<p>A fiber optic connector (30) has a radially inner body (43), for receiving and mounting an optical fiber (86), and a radially outer body (39) having an axial passage (53) receiving the inner body (43). The outer body (39) has forward and rear sections (38, 40) arranged in succession axially of the connector (30). The outer-body rear section (38) mounts a captive bayonet nut (36) for mechanical coupling with an adaptor (22) of an optical device. The forward section (40) of the outer body (39) is arranged for limited axial displacement relative to the rear section (38) of the outer body (39). A first spring (32) biases the inner body (43) axially forwardly relative of the outer body (39), and a second spring (34) biases the forward section (40) of the outer body (39) forwardly relative to the rear section (38) of the outer body (39). When the connector (30) is coupled to the adaptor (22) the rear section (38) of the outer body (39) and bayonet nut (36), transfer to the adaptor (22) tension exerted on the rear of the connector (30), to resist signal interruption.</p> |
