A read only memory (ROM) device having a security function comprises row and column address buffers; row and column decoders; a security memory cell array including a security code cell arrray storing a classified code to maintain the security of data; a sense amplifier connected to the column decoder; a comparator for comparing the security code cell array with external data; an output buffer; a controller for controlling data of a memory cell array to be read or not to be read; a pulse generator; an output enable signal buffer; an output driver; and a chip enable buffer for supplying a chip enable signal, thereby maintaining the security of a ROM data.
