Novel bicyclic pyrazolo couplers contain a sulfone group of formula (I): -L-NHC(=O)-(L)n-B-SO2-R<1> I wherein: each L is independently a divalent group linking the adjacent groups; n is 0 or 1; B is a divalent group selected from aryl, aryloxy, aryloxyalkyl, and -C(R<2>)(R<3>)- wherein R<2> and R<3> are independently hydrogen or alkyl; and R<1> is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl having 1 to 22 carbon atoms These couplers are useful in photographic materials and processes. They exhibit improved color reproduction and dye light stability when employed in color photographic materials and processes.
