PURPOSE:To smooth any clutch engaging motion between a rotor and a seat belt winding shaft, in a pretensioner to be operated by a rotary actuator. CONSTITUTION:This pretensioner is provided with a rotary actuator 3 rotating a seat belt winding shaft 1, a gas generator 4 feeding the pressure chamber C with operating gas, and a clutch means 5 connecting a rotor 31 to the winding shaft 1 by dint of gas pressure to be fed to the pressure chamber C. This clutch means 5 is installed in an interspace S, and it is composed of a ratchet wheel 51, a clutch key 52 movably supported on the rotor 31 toward it and a key connector 53 controlling the transfer of operating gas pressure to the clutch key 52 and a supply of the operating gas to the pressure chamber C sequentially. |
