PURPOSE: To reduce a dazzle and improve an image formation by utilizing a device for polarizing an illumination in the first polarized state, and an analyzer for polarizing a reflected illumination in a different polarized state. CONSTITUTION: An endoscope 10 is equipped with an illuminating means which is an optical fiber 16, positioned on the outer circumference of the endoscope around an image forming means, and then connected to a light source 17. A sterilization device is an elongated hollowe tube 22, and the remote end portion of the tube 22 is also a polarizer assembly 24 (i.e., a prism). The polarizer assembly 24 is equipped with an outside circular portion 25 around the circumference of an assembly for straightly polarizing a light toward the horizontal direction. The polarizer assembly 24 includes a central analyzer 26 having a vertically directed polarizing axis. This polarier assembly 24 makes a light to polarize in some state, and analyzes a reflected illumination in a differently polarized state. It has a major use when a dazzle is decreased during a surgical procedure of using the endoscope and the visual display is improved; however, it is also used in the diagnostic procedure of using the endoscope. |
