摘要 PURPOSE:To have a required residual stress by performing grinding work with the maximum biting depth corresponding to a specified residual stress, and thereby controlling the residual stress at the face to be ground. CONSTITUTION:The residual stress sigma of ceramics grinding face is represented as the function which is determined by the maximum biting depth tmax and the quality of ceramics and degree of grains of a cutting wheel. With the maximum biting depth tmax obtained corresponding to the residual stress sigma, grinding work is carried out. The maximum biting depth tmax can be obtained by a specified formula by the feeding speed (v) of tool, circumferential speed (V) of grinding wheel, dia. (D) of grinding wheel, the radius of cuvature of work to be ground, average intergrain gap (u), and grinding cutting amount (t). If, with the grinding conditions by which the maximum biting amount tmax is obtained, grinding work is carried out on the ceramic curved face, the face to be ground to which the residual stress given by an equation sigma=f (tmax) is given can be obtained.
