PURPOSE:To provide an exhaust emission control device by which nonconformity such as a filter melting loss or a crack or a cinder can be eliminated in spite of operation failure of a temperature detecting means to detect a filter temperature. CONSTITUTION:A temperature detecting means 6 detects a filter 2 temperature (or temperature corresponding to it), and outputs a temperature signal to a control means 8. The control means 8 controls supply electric power to an electric heating means 11 according to the temperature signal. A temperature signal abnormality discriminating means 8 discriminates abnormality of the temperature signal, and a current supply time control means 8 controls current supply to the electric heating means in a prescribed current supply pattern when the temperature signal is abnormal. Even if operation failure or trouble is caused in the temperature detecting means 6 when regenerating operation is carried out, nonconformity such as a filter melting loss or a crack or non- regeneration of particulate, can be avoided.
