<p>PURPOSE:To provide a residual stress imparting device for a dedendum of gear capable of limitedly imparting the residual stress only to the needed part and preventing damage on a surface of other parts. CONSTITUTION:A residual stress imparting device for a dedendum of gear, which imparts the residual stress in the compression direction by colliding an accelerated hard ball at a root part 6a of a gear 6 to be treated, is constituted such that the hard ball is injected together with a pressurized liquid from a nozzle 1 having an injection hole whose dimension of the narrowest part cross section is over the ball diameter and does not exceed the root width dimension W of the gear 6 to be treated and the relative position control between the nozzle and the gear 6 is kept to a position setting precision less than 1/10 of the root width W. By this means, the fatigue fracture strength of gear is improved.</p> |
