发明名称 FRICTION MATERIAL
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a good friction material having an excellent water resistance and a high affinity with a binder by substituting a fibrile pulp of a liq.- crystalline arom. polyester resin for a part of a fibrous reinforcement. CONSTITUTION:A fibrile pulp of a liq.-crystalline arom. polyester resin is used as a substitute for a part of a nonasbestos fibrous reinforcement of a friction material which comprises the fibrous reinforcement, a binder, and a friction and abrasion-adjusting agent. Pref. the pulp is thermally treated in advance to raise its m.p., still pref. to raise its m.p. to 300 deg.C or higher or to make it infusible. The obtd. friction material is excellent in affinity with the binder, heat resistance, and other general properties, has a low water absorptivity, has been improved in swelling, etc., caused by heat generated by the temp. rise due to moisture absorption, and is also excellent in shape retention of a temporarily molded article.
