<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of sulfur, which is a catalyst poison and the cause of activity degradation, on a catalyst and to stabilize the catalytic activity over a long time. CONSTITUTION:In a method for producing chlorine by executing the oxidation reaction of hydrogen chloride by using hydrogen chloride and an oxygen- containing gas as gaseous starting materials in the presence of a chromium oxide catalyst, washing and dehydrating the resultant gas with sulfuric acid, separating and recovering chlorine in the resultant gas by compressing and cooling and reutilizing the chlorine-recovered remaining gas mainly containing oxygen after chlorine is recovered as a part of the gaseous starting material, sulfuric acid mist contained in the chlorine-recovered remaining gas is removed by a removing material.</p> |
