<p>PURPOSE: To use a key for both of 5-pin and 6-pin cylinder locks. CONSTITUTION: Six bits 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 are formed along one end of a blade 22 of a key 20. A shoulder 42 that is formed at the rear end of the blade 22 cooperates with a front surface 82 of a plug 50 when operating a 5-pin cylinder lock 46 and positions the five bits 30, 32, 34, 36, and 38 while being engaged to corresponding five sets of tumbler pins. The key can be used also for a 6-pin type cylinder lock 110, the shoulder 42 moves while passing a groove 130 in a front surface 134 of a plug 114 and is engaged to a stop surface 132, and positions the six bits 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 so that they are engaged to the corresponding six sets of tumbler pins.</p> |
