PURPOSE:To perform a superior transfer even if resistance values change due to attachment of oil to a transfer material by a method wherein, when an image is transferred to a first side of the transfer material and then an image is transferred to a second side, a constant-current control means e gives a predetermined current to the transfer material during the transfer of image to the second side. CONSTITUTION:When a toner image on a photosensitive drum 3 is transferred to one side of a transfer material held on a dielectric sheet 6' of a transfer drum 6 and thereafter an image is transferred to the other side, an electroconductive roller 21 is used and voltage from a power source 30 is applied to the roller 21 to generate a transfer electric field, wherein current of equal magnitude is supplied from the power source 30 by constantcurrent control in the transfer for both the first and second sides. As a result, the current is fed directly into the transfer material from the roller 21 via the sheet 6' and hence even if there are changes in resistance values of the transfer material between the transfer of the first side and that of the second sides, transfer current of equal magnitude can be supplied. |
