PURPOSE:To obtain a modified polyester fiber having high dyeability with cationic dye and excellent alkali resistance and dry feeling by copolymerizing a polyethylene terephthalate with a sodium sulfoterephthalate compound. CONSTITUTION:A cation dyeable polyester fiber is formed by the spinning and drawing of a copolymerized polyester obtained by copolymerizing a polyethylene terephthalate with 0.5-10mol% (based on the dicarboxylic acid component of the terephthalate excluding the compound of the formula) of a sulfoterephthalic acid compound expressed by the formula [R<1> and R<2> are same or different H, (CH2)nH or (CH2)nOH; (m) is integer of 1-6[. A woven fabric having excellent deep color, clarity and dry feeling can be produced causing little lowering of the yarn strength by weaving a plain fabric with the fiber and subjecting the fabric to alkali-thinning treatment and dyeing with cationic dye. |
