PURPOSE:To enhance seizure resistance, wear resistance and the like by letting a slide surface constituting body be composed of the aggregate of metallic crystals consisting of a face centered cubic structure each, and thereby letting (3hhh) orienting metallic crystalls included in the aggregate be of an abundance of a specific rate. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft 1 for an internal combustion engine includes a base member 2 made of cast iron, a layer slide surface constituting body 4 is formed while being processed by plating in the outer circumferential surface of the journal section 3 of the base member 2. Let the slide surface constituting body 4 provided for the cam shaft 1 as mentioned above be composed of the aggregate of metallic crystals consisting of a face centered cubic structure (fcc structure) each. The aggregate is to include (3hhh) orienting metallic crystals 6, and (3hhh) surface by Miller indices are oriented to the slide surface 4a side faced to a bearing member, so that the abundance S of the (3hhh) orienting metallic crystals 6 is set to be equal to or more than 40%. Each (3hhh) orienting metallic crystal 6 grows up in a pillar shape out of the base member 2, and it is formed into a pyramid shape or a truncated pyramid shape in the slide surface 4a. |
