DEVICE FOR STORING AND CARRYING A PLURARITY OF DISK-SHAPED RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE: To provide a portable device that can store and transport many disk- shaped recording media in such a manner that a selected one of them can efficiently be drawn out. CONSTITUTION: There is provided a housing 24 equipped with a lower base component 12 and an upper cover component 14 mutually pivoted, and with internally containing a large number of slots 46 to retain disk-shaped recording media in parallel adjacent positions. An axially displaceable selector 100 is mounted on to the upper cover component and may be utilized to select and automatically retain a particular disk 44 within the upper cover component during pivotal movement of the upper cover component relative to the lower base component, so that the disk may manually be taken out with ease from the upper cover component. In a preferred embodiment, an easily removable transparent cover 20 is provided and may be utilized for covering removable indicia to identify each disk stored within the apparatus.
