The amplifier has a multistage breaking field collector (2) which absorbs an electron beam (9) emitted from a cathode (5) through an accelerating anode (7) into a region of interaction (1) between the beam and a decelerated high-frequency wave. The equipment voltage (Vb) for the cathode is set to below the small-signal synchronisation voltage at which the gain of the tube for low-level signals attains its max. value. The collector stage voltages (Vc1-Vc4) are in the ratio of 5:4:2:1. ADVANTAGE - Tube efficiency can be increased to allow extremely effective operation of amplifier as whole.
