The test head holder has a housing with a chamber which accepts the test head (22) and a passage region (40) for the ultrasonic beam from the head. One side of the housing has a protrusion (28) and the other a receiving part (30) of a coupling. The test head, passage region and ultrasonic beam lie between the protrusion and receiving part. The protrusion of one holder and the receiving part of another can be easily coupled together and decoupled. Two coupled holders can be pivoted wrt each other about a linkage axis transverse to the line connecting the holders. USE/ADVANTAGE - Test head for non-destructive material testing and thickness measurement. Test arrangements can be assembled without use of special holders, can be used for several applications.
