In the processing method, the novelty is that the metal is converted into a metal cpd. by chemical reaction, pref. in the presence of an oxidising agent or by addn. of sulphur or a sulphur cpd. USE/ADVANTAGE - In the recycling of plastics scrap, esp. cable scrap contg. copper or aluminium. Conversion of the metal to cpd. form eliminates surface metallic sheen from the plastics product. The metal cpd. does not deleteriously affect the properties of the plastics and even acts as a filler.
