The cylinder is made in one piece by deep drawing with the narrow section (3) comprising the high pressure section and the wider section (4) locating the piston rod guide (12,15). The end of the piston has a pressure seal (9) fitted over a sleeve (11) which has a press-fit on the end of the piston. This seal therefore forms one support for the piston, with the piston rod seal (15) the other support. The piston sleeve has a press-fit mounting on the piston, with an integral seal and enclosing the central valve through which lost fluid is replaced. ADVANTAGE - It can stand large pressures and provides a cost effective construction.
