A device for separating the components from an assembled quantity of material, for example fat and meat components from slaughtered meat, which device is provided with a conveyor for the material and an element which can move with respect to the conveyor, for the purpose of separating out at least one component, the movable element being provided with an attachment member, which can be moved into at least two positions, for at least one component; in one position, the member becomes attached to the said component, and in the other position it becomes detached therefrom, in such a manner that an improved fraction is obtained after one or more operations.
